Youth ASEAN Stamp Exhibition 2007

The Youth ASEAN Stamp (YAS) Exhibition 2007 was held in Singapore from 31 August to 2 September 2007, at the National Library Plaza. It is an ASEAN COCI project aiming to encourage youth and educational tool; to provide a platform for exchanges of creative ideas, knowledge and information sharing, and interaction through philately; to foster closer inter-ASEAN understanding and relationship through philatelic activities; to develop research skills, writing skills, management and organizational skills; and encourage creative thinking.

The YAS exhibition was attended by ten ASEAN Commissioners, one guest commissioner from Australia, and 25 youth leaders, being involved in the two full-day programmes, including sight-seeing tours of Singapore and tour of Singapore Philatelic Museum. The exhibition showed a total of 23 exhibits, comprising 68 stamp frames. There were also nine guest exhibits from Cambodia, Vietnam and Australia making up a total of 18 stamp frames.

The exhibits were divided into these following groups: (1) Group A (12-13 years old); (2) Group B (14-15 years old); and (3) Group C (16-18 years old). In the end, Indonesia and Vietnam won Gold Awards for exhibits in Class A, B and C, while Philippines has two Gold Awards for Class A and B, and Malaysia has one Gold Award for Class C.
