Myanmar Union Day In the course of its long history, Myanmar has stood tall as a sovereign nation in the world.  By misfortune, Myanmar once fell under alien subjugation during the world's transition from feudalism to colonialism.  At Panlong Conference held in Shan State on 12 February 1947, the entire people unanimously showed nationalistic spirit, with which they enjoyed independence only together.  To mark the historic event, the country has held the Union Day ceremony since 1948. As a result, country regained its independence and sovereignty in 1948.
